hi guys -kinda a raw description of vehicle gonna say its around 97 99 lexus....kind of a general problem cust brought car in asking to put in a new alt cause somewhere said her battery went dead cause the alts not charging...check battery getting 10amps try starting car click click click dead batt???ok in with the new alt and meter says battery is still not charging batt goes dead and car stalls... is their any relay box or voltage reg in this vehicle....iam not familar with the hi end toyota brand lexus.....anything i should look for......

I know Chryslers has a fusible link wire that goes from alt to batter. See if this car may have the same thing

thanks gac....they had someone else look at it and they said it was the ac blowing the fuse for the alt?????like i said I dont know much about lexus but it sounded a little wrong to me....thanks crank.it

here's what i did to check this problem or what i did in lexus repair. A very quick check. Clean off the side surface of your harmonic balancer. Then apply a mark that spans the gap between the inner and outer section. Even blackboard chalk or finger nail polish, yellow crayon, what ever you have that can be easily seen. How about that old bottle of typing correction fluid which you don't use any more. Fast drying and highly visible. Now, start the engine, rev it up and down briefly, then turn it off. Next, recheck your new mark's alignment. If that mark's inside section still lines up with the outside section, your crank pulley is still good. But if you find that that line's parts are now out of alignment, you need to renew or replace your crankshaft pulley. hope that this works and help you to realize on what action you'll done in you
