Re: resetting alarm on 03 monte????
The body control module (BCM) provides security system sensor power and low reference for the Passlock sensor. The BCM also measures the security system sensor voltage.
You should have codes in the PCM. Did you check the PCM for any B codes,( could even have P codes) could be active or even history codes.Your problem could be anything from just a bad chip in the key, the magnet in the lock cylinder, the signal receiver, the tamper sensor, the security sensor, security system voltage supply or a problem with the BCM.
Check for codes , just to narrow it down a bit.
There are two different procedures to relearn one requires a star 2 and star 2 terminal and software. The longer relearn procedure takes no special tools.
30 Minute Learn Procedure No tools Required.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the BCM is now ready to relearn the
Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK). The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
You could try to reset the BCM, but you could also have a bad component.
