1999 ford explorer sport stock trailer receptical
Just bought the trailer wire to plug into the stock plug behind the left rear taillight.Once plugged in I have signal, and brake lights, but no power from the brown wire for taillights. My question is would it be ok to tap into the brown wire to the taillight and join it into the brown wire to the trailer bypassing the plug?I'm sure it would be ok but advise if I shouldn't.Thanks in advance.

yes it would be ok but it would be another thing to have to plug /unplug. You may want to buy a 12v test lite, their not exspensive . clip to frame and with tail lites turned on poke the brown wire at different locations till you find where your losing power. then you can repair and the install will look and work like a pro did it
