Dead 99 Olds Intrgue
I have a 99 Olds Intrigue 3.8L engine 115,000 miles never had any trouble with it. It was running fine earlier today. When I just went to start it there was a sound like it was just going to turn over then it went dead. There are no lights of any kind. everything electrical is dead. I checked the battery voltage and it was okay. I also checked the voltage at the alternator and it was the same as the battery 12.70. I've never seen anything like this . Any advise on possible problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bogieb

Re: Dead 99 Olds Intrgue
I did some more checking on my problem. The 2 fusible links by the starter are ok. If I turn the key to on the voltage to the starter and alternator drops to about 6 volts and the negative terminal on the battery gets hot.
Thanks for any help

Sounds like a bad a starter . If possible remove starter , jump in wifes BMW and drive to parts house ,have them test it , most do it for free.

Sorry , i should have given a bit more advise . I should have had you take your batt at same time and have it load tested . often batteries wil show a good voltage with no load and then dump when a load i.e. starter is applied. also be sure to check all connections.
