97 merc marquis Ls-/A/C compressor clunks

97 merc marquis Ls-/A/C compressor clunks
My merc has the right amount of freon in it and no leaks. I still hear it"clunk" and recycle to often.The car has the automatic interior comfort package, it only has 75,000 miles on it and has had excllent care if i do say so myselfBlush
If you can help with any cures for this or things i can try. I do 90% of my own work, This clunk is gettin to me. thanks for your time bob s

If it cycles quickly, it is either low on refrigerant or possibly the low pressure switch on the accumulator. The clunking could be an air gap too wide on the clutch face or a bent plate.

There is a schraeder valve under the low pressure switch. The switch just screws on the connector and has a 2 wire connector on it. The accumulator is the round silver looking thing in front of the passenger area under the hood.

I just got back on here i didn't get to thank you, didn't need the a/c in the winter. I hooked the wire to the low prssure switc after the whole winter,and it now is a lot quieter of a "clunk" Suppose there was a piece of dirt etc,that made this clunk bob s if you for got this post thats ok. bob s
