97 escort alignment problem
I recently had the drivers side cv shaft replaced followed by an alignment. Now I get a pull to the right and more torque steer than I had before. Could the pull be caused by the shaft or is it an
alignment problem.Thanks for the reply.

Re: 97 escort alignment problem
Go back to the place that it was aligned and have them realign it. Replacing the CV shaft wil have no affect on your steering and an alignment is usually not neccesary.

Sure it can. Depends on how rough the cv was removed. They may have knocked a tie rod end or ball joint loose during the course of removal. They may have been at the point where they were due and not noticable yet. As for the alignment, the alignment shop should have caught something like that. Unless you did it backyard style. Have your car put on a rack and have the steering components checked.

Thanks for the replies. I went back to the shop and was told The alignment did not hold because I had worn tie rods. Went to a mechanic and was told they were fine. I guess I better look for another shop.So many crooks,so little time.

Notice I said 'usually' not neccesary. In some cases that driver described you would need an alignment. Unfortunately there are a lot of places out there that want to take your money and not fix your car correctly. There are still some good shops out there though. Keep looking and you'll find it.

Re: 97 escort alignment problem
I decided to rotate the tires before I did another alignment and the pull went away.
I guess that means the tires now in the rear are abnormally worn. Actually, every time I had a pull in any car I have owned,it was the fault of a tire. Thanks for the help.
