Do shops recommend 5w-20 for Fords that aren't in warranty to their customers now?

My ford's valve train uses solid cam follower with no hydraulic components. Conventional 5w-20 ok?

If that is the specified viscosity, I suggest using it. Had a memo on Ford bearings gettig wiped out due to the fact that the old timers buying new linolns were still running 10w30 or 10w40. Auto companies prefer thgese viscosities because of performance and duration tests.

So, if the vehicle has always been serviced with 5w20 then I say stay with it. Shouldnt cost no more or less for service other than the name on the bottle.
