my car died on me whle driving, a loud beep was heard. wont start now and i can smell gas after i stop trying to start car. plz help

the cheepest thing is try the normal tune up spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, roater
it sound like if you smell gas after trying to start it it has no spark try that and if it dont work may be other things like the coil or ya can run a a couple tests take a wire off one of the spark plugs stick a screw driver in the end of the wire put it next to metal and have someone turn the car over if no spark try the coil wire same way if it an older car if not do the cap and roater and try if still no spark do the coil and check all wires to see if they connected
if that dont help take it to a shop and have then look at it
