ok first of all if you dont have sevices done regularly ur clutch packs get worn the material sticks to then and the fluid has the material in them so the tranny seems to work fine if you do a service with fluid and filter the material is gone and the new filter picks up all the left over material in the fluid in the torque converter there for the clutch packs get smooth and every gear slips i would take it to a tranny shop and have it rebuilt and dont drive it cause they charge more if hard parts are bad like palatery gears and regular gears also if you have the resources to pull the tranny your self find a shop that will charge for the rebuild and the labor on the rebuild only the cost i would estimate if you pull it would be 500 to 800 and if you dont pull it it could be 1300 to 2100 thats based on 55 to 75 an hr on labor i would definatly get it rebuilt if the truck is worth it to you
hope this helps
