95 Ford Contour buckin and kickin
95 Contour 2.0 zetech auto trans

Car is buckin and kickin intermittently at highway speeds. Kicks out of gear as if in neutral, shifts up and down between gears. Have pulled some codes with my "brick" and I of course am not a tranny specialist. Here are the codes that I pulled

335 code def not available
332 EGR not opening
461 code def not available
668 transmission range sensor circuit high

Any ideas? Of course I saw the tranny code, but I dont work on transmissions. Will swap and service but no repairs.

Re: 95 Ford Contour buckin and kickin
Do you have a TR/MLP tester??
Really sounds like you have a bad MLP. or a bad or shorted circuit for the MLP,
that comes from the ing switch and the PCM you can check this with a "digital" ohm meter.

Part: ECH NS5593
Product Line: Echlin Ignition

List Price 62.31
Your Cost 38.48
Unit
For only 40 bucks I think I would start here

Pin Number
1 (BR/GN) Reference Voltage
2 (BK/Y) Starter Relay Coil (Ground Side)
3 (P/BK) Backup Lamps
4 - Hot Used
5 (P/W) Fused Ignition Input
6 - Not Used
7 (W/GN) PCM TR Sensor Signal
8 (BK) Ground
9 - Not Used
10 - Not Used
11 - Not Used

Trans-axle 66G (BK/BL)
Park 3770-4607 ohms
and Reverse 1304-1593 ohms
817 (R/BK)Neutral 660-807 ohms
Drive 361-442 ohms
2 190-232 ohms
1 78-95 ohms
Let us know what you find as far as values .

Your code PO 461 breaks down to the VDF solenoid, but being a 95 I don't think,
this vehicle came with a VDF.
as far as the code PO 335, are you sure it couldn't of been PO 355 ?
according to the systems you stated , PO355 makes more a more plausible code.

Re: 95 Ford Contour buckin and kickin
According to my outdated Snap-On "brick" it spit out 335 code a few times instead of 355. Anyway, I am still waiting for the guy to decide if he wants to try the repairs suggested or not. Kinda draggin his feet after hounding me to look at it for a week or so.

Will post up as soon as I find something. Thanks for the reply.
