2000 Elantra sputters and dies
My Elantra has died a couple times lately. The main problem is the RPM's will go from 2500 down to 1000 or below as I'm driving on the highway. It seems that during the hottest part of the day (in Kansas about 95-100 degrees lately) I have the most problems. One time I started the car and it sputtered. I gave it gas and nothing happened. I don't have this problem all the time though, and after it dies, it always starts right back up. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what it might be?

Angie,

Thanks for the update - hopefully your notes will help someone else figure out where to look if they have a similar problem!

this sounds like you're elantra is lacking of fuel pressure to worn pump. plugged fuel filter or defective fuel pressure regulator. there's an engine computer which reads and determine the area of the repair. don't just replace the parts until it runs usually, a very expensive repair process. if the engine uses a rubber timing belt to the cams, the mileage is about to change it. if this things don't work, try to ask help from the kansas auto repair shops mechanics.

Hello rainandsun. This post is 8 years old. We appreciate the interest and input, but please look at the date of the post. More than likely the original poster will not see your post.
