simple/silly 88 Acura?
Looking for the part that holds the hood up. Any suggestions? Is it missing or am I looking in the wrong place?? 1988 Acura Legend.

You should have two hood struts (that's what they are called) one on the left side one on the right side. And they should automatically keep the hood open. What it sounds like is that the hood struts have failed/quit working.

If they are indeed missing or have just stopped working you can purchase a replacement pair of hood struts from Acura or from most any parts stores. You can get a nice pair for $61.84 at:

Good luck,

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work.

missing hood prop
Well, I'm sure it had one from the factory...but I've seen a few older cars, usually having had been through a body shop for repairs, in which the prop was accidently left off...so it does happen. They are usually on the topside of the drivers side shock tower, or laying near the front area between the headlights. Not exactly sure which location on the 88 Acura Legend.
