Pontiac engine in an Austin?
Way, way back when I was in highschool, my best friend had a 1967 GTO with a tricked out 400. No doubt he eventually totalled the car! Not wanting to let go, we decided to take the engine out and stick it in something else. The only junker we could find that would take the 400 turned out to be a '65 Austin. Amazingly, the 400 bolted right in. Of course we had to take out the firewall to make room for the Muncie transmission and the front seats (and part of the front floorboards!) because the bell housing was stuffed under the dash. there was no room for a driveline so we made some adaptors to fit the tailshaft to the rear end. It ran, but it scared us so bad no one would drive it-wound up selling the motor to a friend. Probably lucky no one got killed.
