hi zak-find the flasher box, usaully in the fuse area, maybe one for flashers(directionals) and one for hazard,if they both dont work then you probably have just one flasher,,,,pull it out and plug in the new one....crank.it

Does the light go on and not blink?,,,,,and you still normally have brake lights when you dont turn on the flasher?,Then its the flasher!

RE: 96 taurus signal lights wont work
I have the answer, but you might have a hard time believing me. Lol
Get an spray can of electronics-parts contact cleaner (oil) from a hardware or auto parts store. something made for electronics/connectors.
Spray some of the oil in the space around the hazard button (using the little straw that u put into the spray nozzle on the spray head of the can of cleaner/oil).

Push the hazard button in and out 5 or 10 times.
You're done and everything will work!

I just did this to my 96 Taurus tonight after reading about it on wiki.answers and it WORKED IMMEDIATELY! I was totally shocked! Lol

Hope I'm not to late with my reply. It really works!
The cleaner won't hurt any parts inside the steering column so don't be afraid to try this before you PAY ANYONE who will just replace a dirty switch that just needs contact cleaner.
