FLAME JOB
Whilst working fo a cheby dealer i was witness to the following brain fart.In the bay next to me a newbie was replacing valve stem seals on a 5.7 . Airhose attached to a cyl , key was left on , coil wire was lying in TBI. As eng was turned by hand to better seal valve , intake valve popped open, injector fired, coil sparked. A flame pushed by 120 psi airflow shot up from TBI-it looked like an f-14 on afterburner  . It blistered hood in seconds. 3 extingushers had no effect. Finally i thought to pull airhose.

Turning the key off was the first thing done . Once started it was going to stay going till fuel that had accumlated in intake was used up or airflow stopped - just like a jet engine
