Anyone ever work on a YUGO 1990 GVX?
Still having problems with the clutch. Any advice besides giving it to a junkyard?

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks for the reply.

Where should I begin, this is a YUGO we are speaking about here. I have pretty much done everything to her that was possible. My problem, parts are tough to come by and I have not found another clutch box that I can replace. She tends to have trouble getting into second gear. with the proper rpm, and pumping the clutch twice, she glides in, if not, she grinds.

Still at $5 a gallon and 42 mpg, I have no complaints. Plus, my friends have never been in a Yugo so it seems fun for them too.

The fishing ois some of the best. I prefer river fishing to deep sea. Either way, you will have a blast. Hopefully, you can make it here one day.I may have some good suggestions for you.

If its only 2nd gear , from your description , I would say you have a transmission problem . The 2nd gear syncronizer to be exact. It helps to guide the gears and allow the gears to match their spin so that the shifting collar can lock them together. Its either worn or broke . which is why double clutching helps the shift . It helps to get the gears to spin at same speed.

Thanks for the feedback re-tired.

If I cannot replace it, and unfortunately, two mechanics had taken apart the box and "tried" to fix it, is there anything else that I can do? I am willing to have people look at it.They only charge $8 an hour for work. And that is for the top paid shops.

The good news, I know my car so well, that 95% of the time, I can get it to slide in. If I am down shifting, forget about it. Sometimes, I have to wait for the car to stop completely to put in in 1st again to avoid a grind.
