02' Land Rover Freelander Engine

I have a 2002 Land Rover Freelander with 6 cyl. engine. The engine is loud everytime I start the vehicle in the morning and it takes a while before it quites down. Is this normal with Freelander engines?

The only normal engine noise that is common with a cold start is the engine fan if it has a viscous clutch drive, then what you hear is air noise from the fan. Those clutches usually are engaged when the engine starts, but will release after a few seconds of operation (10 or 15 seconds), then will engage and release according to engine temperature for normal operation. If you hear any other noise, clicking, ticking, rattling, thumping, you should have it checked at a shop where they can listen to the engine after a cold start.

Could be a similar issue as with the Disco's... the pick up tube for the oil pump could very well be clogged... time to remove the oil pan and clean things up. this is what i did for the land rover repair on the noisy engine.
