stereo mishaps
my ex-husband isn't the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to radios and electrical stuff on cars. He always insisted on putting radios in my cars. The first one he put in my 89 escort. since mine was factory and didn't work at all, I was pretty happy until the first time I drove my car. somehow he got the wiring for the radio mixed into the wiring for the dash. Half the stuff in my car didn't work. I didn't have any interior lights and every time the fuse was replaced it would blow. If you turned on the dash lights, which you had to twist the knob for the lights, it would turn off the radio. I told him to take in to a place that did radios and get it fixed. the idiot decided he could fix it. The first time I drove the car after that it caught on fire in the dash. I wound up with no interior lights, no dash lights, no radio and no lighter. The second one he put in my 92 mazda protege. It was a christmas gift for him since he totaled his car and took over mine. The radio that was in it worked and that was fine with me. The $60 radio wound up costing me $400 to get fixed. Everytime you shut the doors the speakers would quit and if you let up the power windows the stereo would go off. I never even found out everything he screwed up on this one. I cut it off and had it towed to a garage. he had cut wries and had no clue what they went to so he just taped them up and left them hanging.
