hi guys and girls -dont know if anyone is still posting but was wondering if we had any honda gurus that could give me some info on some possible reasons why the radio has no sound at all not even a scratchey sound,dead silence,new radio cd nav flip sreen just put in cause old radio had no sound....speakers work checked with old radio that was good....any possible causes?????thanks crank.it

sorry for the long fix reply but from what i can gather this was an ongoing problem with some years and radios....the owner decided to try the dealer to see if they will fix for $$$0000......being as their were some tsb's wwhich the owner thinks was a recall :idea:ooohhhh boy.....my luck...crank.it

If it's a new aftermarket radio, it probably has less to do with the car brand and more to do with the wiring issues.

First question - is it getting power? If the display works, double check that the tuner section is working by hitting the scan button to see if it finds any of the local stations. If you're getting power but no sound, that narrows things down.

Second question: assuming it has power, how did you install it? Did you match up the wires and re-connect them with electrical tape or wire nuts, or, did you get a wire loom kit with all the connectors pre-made?

Third question: Is there an separate amp? Some of the higher-end car radios from the factory had a low power signal going out of the radio to a high power amp located elsewhere under the dash or in the trunk. Do you remember which model radio came out of the car, or what options it originally came with?

That's enough questions for now - but it's the first step to figuring out why you don't hear anything from your new radio.

thanks tac their is power going to speaker I was told to hook a battery 9volt to speaker if the speaker pops then the speaker is ok just not receiving from the stereo...so start tracing backwards till i find the culprit...gonna bet its a ground I did not hook up the stereo just trying to trouble shoot it thanks for the imput...still driving the vette???...crank.it

Generally, the antenna shield should also act as a ground, although hooking up the dedicated black ground wire gives a more reliable (and less crackly) signal in the long run.
As for the Vette - I sold it a year or so ago so I could get a convertible. I ended up getting a 350Z convertible, partially because I liked the looks, and partially because I've been teaching my wife to drive stick, and changing the clutch on the 350Z is infinitely easier than changing a clutch on a Vette would be.

Hope all is going well on your end. And I hope I'll be able to drum up some interest in this new format too. There's so many DIY auto repair sites out there these days that we weren't getting any exposure - but there's hardly anything for the guys who are running shops. So I finally got off my lazy azz and changed out to software that is more search engine friendly and redid all the groups to make it applicable to the industry. Any suggestions you have for a different set of groups or anything is very, very welcome.

sorry to hear about the vette but if you were looking for a convertible I have a slightly used 72 cutlass...still working on the thing.....
