Engine #2 progress report
Well, didn't get as far as I'd hoped this weekend...had a heck of a fight getting motor in. The leveller and brackets were pinned against cowl and firewall, preventing motor from lining up with the mounts. Thankfully, was able to change over to lift plate while motor/trans were resting on framework & then did a quick lift, got stuff into place. 8)
Notes: had to remove motor/trans together, but I didn't want that much weight on the carb studs by using a one-piece lift plate. Maybe it would've been ok??? Had removed intake before pulling motor, so bolted leveller at heads' interior for removal lift. Wanted to install intake before putting everything back (heavy, hard to line up & can't use guide pins on it!) So, bolted to heads' exterior for replacement lift. Well, it worked OK on the first swap, but we used different equipment then...
So--engine and transmission are in place and secured. I replaced u-joints and driveshaft carrier bearing last week, got all that reinstalled yesterday. Put in the new heater core, too.
Won't be able to work on 'er next weekend, but if I get any extra time off this coming week, can hook up hoses, pumps & pulleys.
If this one doesn't work, I'll just cry :!: :!: :!:
