Remove the Phillips head screws from the door panel. Almost always there are two screws in the arm or in the center of the back of the panel. Search the outer perimeter of the door to additional screws. Check the screws on the doorknob. Remove the plastic covering the inside surface of the mirror assembly outside if not part of the door panel. Remove the door panel by inserting a screwdriver into the joint between the door panel and door and lift the lace around the outside of the door.
If it is a late model Ford, it is likely that the hooks rather than fit into the door panel. Take the lower door panel and lift. If there are parentheses, the panel will only come through the door hooks are removed through holes in the bottom of the door.
Remove the handlebars on, if the handle comes off with the door panel, unclip a plastic holder on the back of the door handles that hold rods securely. Lift the rods out of the door handle. Disconnect all electrical connectors and the rear side of the door panel and remove the panel.
If the controller failed window and the window is stuck in high position, must be lowered to remove the window regulator. If it is cable driven regulator, cut the cable and pull the window down to the bottom where the bolts that secure the window regulator can be reached. If it is a kind of scissors should be used with caution, because there is a big spring used to assist in the removal of the window. You want to keep your fingers away from the scissors mechanism.
Put a piece of wood in the access panel to keep the window down, then remove the bolts holding the motor to the controller window, keep your fingers away from the PLC. When the engine is removed, you can use a hand under the window to cut it, then it is safe to handle.
Install screwdriver as a wedge between the window and window felt inside to keep the window when the regulator is removed. Remove the bolts holding the window to the regulator. Remove the electrical connector of the engine window and remove the bolts holding the engine at the door.
Remove the nuts that hold the regulator to the door. There should be no bolt nuts of the regulator at the top and bottom of the door. Scissor-type regulators, there is also a channel guide in the center of the door must be removed. Remove the regulatory mechanism of the entire door.
Replace the controller in the same way it came out, but to make it much easier to replace the window regulator, hold the door panel or window switch fairly close to the door connecting the switch. Make sure the motor is turning the key window and press the switch to put the controller in the center of the access panel which is easy to install the screws through the horizontal channel and the holes in the bottom of the window.
