So far, so good! Truck starts, got timing & carb dialed in...
wasn't off a tooth, just had to get gasoline *back into the lines*

Only one pesky exhaust leak left to deal with, but too hot to
touch right now. I'm soooooooo relieved! I think *this one*
is gonna work out OK!

Thanks for the prayers & well-wishes, guys! 8)

Update:

Got the exhaust snugged up after getting 'er good & hot. Had alot of oil to burn out of the left pipe (after last motor woes!) but it cleared up finally.

Gave 'er the "shakedown cruise" this afternoon, took some long straight backroads & I think the rings are seated OK, did about a dozen rapid decel's for the backpressure. Nice & smooth sounding ride.

Need to tweak the dwell/timing just a bit? Slight valvetrain rattle on acceleration (Not flooring the pedal, just *normal* hard accel)...any advice? Timing is at spec. right now, dwell within spec. range. Wonder if there's a *sweet spot* for this individual machine, or is this part of *breaking it in*?

Fast idle sounded awfully high, but hadn't put the tach on -- will do next time at startup & see if it's right.

Woohoo! again! Got my baby back! 8)
