I've installed a new feature that makes it harder for spam-bots to create user accounts and post spam. I hope it does not scare off many legitimate users.
It may take a little while for the change to have an effect, as some of the spambots create an account and then let it lay dormant for months before actually using it to post spam. But hopefully we should see it tail off a bit.
