1993 Chevy Truck Clear Coat peeling
I have a 1993 Chevy Truck with the clear coat peeling. The paint under the clear coat is not damaged. How do I stop it peeling and fix the clear coat.

hi eweborg-the only way to completely stop the gm peel is a paint job....the delamanation is cause by a bad batch of paint so says gm...sand clear off to the color and try to scratch the color with 1000 grit then reclear......crank.it

I hope I don't step on your toes crank.it.
Basecoat /Clearcoat is a chemically bonded 2 part system. Which means that fresh clear will chemically bond to fresh basecoat to make a stronger bond.
That being said you can still do it like crank.it said if you want to save some cash but if you want it to last to it's full potential you may want to think about a total repaint.

Hope that helps a little

10-4 on the overall strip and repaint....for the novice its kinda hard to do but you are 100% correct ..mr.shady...theirs also a chemical wash to wipe the color to sofen it up to bond with the clear...this is the quicky dealer way thats how my 90 chevy was done and yes it did start delaminating after about 10 years...so as shady has said stip to primer and recolor and clear is the only 100%way to go....crank.it

and glad to see your still watching us mr shady...and as far as the toes go forget about it......jump in any time...two heads are better than one even if their cabbages....so hows biz...just gearing up for the spring myself....crank.it
