87 century suspension problem
Good Morning!

My 87 Century is eating tires on both front wheels. On the inside third of each tire they are worn out, its been a tough winter here in michigan and i might of knocked the alignment out since roads are riddled with pot holes, I changed ball joints last year so I suspect tie rod ends or the alignment. I put car up on stands and pryed around on tie rod ends and coudnt find any slop. The rack has the memory steer problem but goes away after a couple of minutes and i dont think that would bother it much, seems like i have a little slop in one hub though my question is if its not alignment what to look for?. Im good at changing parts but sometimes my diagnosis levels arent the best.

As always thanks for any input

I would think that it would be just an alignment, or weak struts.
Check on the alignment first, Although the caster and camber is adjusted with the strut mounting bolts.

It turns out that is was those cheap Chinese ball joints i put on the car 15 months ago. I have never had a set of ball joints fail after replacement, but I have learned my lesson now! :x

Unfortunately many people learn that the hard way. Working in the auto parts industry, I can tell you there IS a difference between the name brand and the 'cheaper' brand. The name brand will be more expensive, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" rings so true in auto parts.
