Suggested a manual for rakmo22 asshole!!! You really have a big head don't you. Are you trying to be an asshole on purpose because it sure seems like it. Hope every one reads this and knows what you really are.
I haven't been a mechanic for 30 years, just 20 years, and sometimes I get stumped just like every one else. I won't be asking you for help any more, nor do I want your help. AT least I know how to talk or in this case pleasantly respond to people, you should get rid of that chip on your shoulder.
what the hell was that about ? The reference to the manual was a joke . I dont feel I need to defend my record on giving help to you or anyone else . I have given advise to even you from my BIG HEAD. After everybody does read this post I will gladly remove my self if the majority asks . Then you can find another shirttail to ride.Either way tone down the language.

Sorry, Deefer. I have to agree with retired. I see no reason for you to jump a fellow member of the forum like that. Seems like the chip and attitude are upon your shoulders. You have been a good contributing member to the forum and we would like to keep it that way. I have got an ego bigger than anyone here, but I allow almost anyone to say what they want. Most of the times I use the PM to ask about personal issues, but since you posted it in the forums--so be it. Yoy stated you do not want help from retired anymore. Were the previous answers he gave you incorrect or misleading? I have not seen where you have posted anything where he has mislead or had you do something that might cause you any more trouble. So if you do not want help from retired, guess you don't want my help either. I am going to retired's corner. Sorry about your loss Deefer. Hope you realize we want to keep everyone here and there are going to be disagreements. Retired and I have had out battles, but we work it out. Hope you do the same.
BEING WAY2OLD IS WHY I NEED HELP FROM YOUNGER MINDS.
I, too, am with re-tired, and agree with way2old's position.
Deefer, I thought your previous responses to inquires were reasonable and informed. With that history, your response to re-tired's quip about a manual seemed out of character- and maybe it is, for whatever reason existed at the moment.
way2old Wrote:I see no reason for you to jump a fellow member of the forum like that.
AGREE. Comments like that need to be private. Making that statement for a whole forum to see doesn't really show any professionalism. We are suppose to help others on the forum if we can, not belittle other members.Sorry Deefer, I'm with re-tired. The additional comments were wrong. I apologize to any visitors who have viewed this post . As well I am sure that covers ,for the most part, the rest of the members of this forum.
I do agree with everyone's opinion about leaving the foul language out of the forum (talking about my foul language), it doesn't serve any purpose at all, however, your joke was taken the wrong way re-tired, and your joke doesn't serve any purpose. Maybe you should think about how people will react before you make comments like that. If you were on the receiving end of the joke, you might think differently. If someone was questioning your intellect you might respond the same way I did!!!!!!
I do agree with every one's opinion that your previous comments were reasonable. However, re-tired, it seemed to me that you were shooting me down for suggesting another way of looking at a problem. Looking at other member's replies like " bring the car to a dealership and put it on a scanner" I thought it would be a good idea to give rakmo22 a way of finding the problem if he had a manual, because as you said he replaced the speed sensor already. So why not look to see if the problem is ground related and or prove that it isn't? If the guy had a manual, why not try and find the problem before paying $$$ at a dealership???? I was thinking his problem wasn't ground related, if you didn't get the point of me asking if he had a manual?
Are you the god of all repairs re-tired, no your not, and neither am I. Did that comment offend your intellect, I hope not, because I'll tell you right now it wasn't ment to be sarcastic.
After it's all said and done, did rakmo22 get his problem fixed, I would be love to know what the problem was?
I have to say I AGREE with everyone on this. I think this is such a great forum because of all the good natured bantering among friends. It just makes for a great place to come everyday and help people that may not know how to do a certain repair.
I think that it is hard sometimes to get across the true feelings that someone is intending. But all the regulars have been around long enough to know when we are joking around.
So hopefully most of the new people will just get a feel for everyone's humor .

If it's got wheels it's gonna give ya trouble!
So let us know.
Hey Deefer. Go back through some of the old posts. Us regulars like to hijack occasionally and we give each other rough toimes sometimes. You asked if the poster had a manual, retired gave a website that had information that may help the poster. That is our point. If you took it personally, all I can say is if you are gonna be a regular, the skin has to get a little thicker. We value your input and welcome any information you have to offer. So if this next statement offends you, I apologize before you read it.
DEEFER AND RETIRED LET'S KISS AND MAKE UP AND PLAY NICE WITH ALL OUR LITTLE PLAYMATES. [smilie=pdt_bis.gif] [smilie=pdt_leb.gif] [smilie=pdt_ura1.gif]
BEING WAY2OLD IS WHY I NEED HELP FROM YOUNGER MINDS.
Well said shadetree and way2old, but for me, I'd skip the kissy stuff.
Deefer, I hope you stick around, as has been said by others. As I said earlier, I thought your previous responses were reasonable and thoughtful, with as good a view of matters as any.
Yes I understand the playful banter that happens occasionally and jokes that you play on each other, it happened to me here as well, and it was taken as a joke, gave me a big smile. However, the joke that re-tired made didn't seem like playful banter, it appeared as though he intended to offend.
As I replied to re-tired he gave me the impression like he was telling me that I was wrong. Telling me that the speedometer was electronic for sure and no speedometer cable, and that the problem is the ground circuit. Let me spell it out for you, I don't know why I'm bothering to do this but:
Deefer I suggested to rakmo22 that the problem wasn't a bad ground and asked if he had a manual. (electrical diagram will disprove or confirm a ground problem.
re-tired "thanks for the input deefer, its a sensor driven system (electronic ) for sure. not a cable driven system, remember he changed the sensor . the sensor wiring has dedicated wiring it doesnt share with lighting . capt obvious is barking up right tree . You can read speed sensor output with scanner and compare to speedometer reading (not always, not the 96 astro van I recently worked on, and not on my 2002 Impala, and depending if the shop has the proper scan tool for this procedure. I'm not sure if you can use a scanner to read the speedometer for Honda?)
Deefer Told re-tired that my old cavalier was cable driven speedometer and a speed sensor. (cable can slip if not seated properly)
re-tired "your cavalier was a cable driven system ,however the drive mechanism in the speedo head is electronic. so it is a hybrid of sorts . so ill say your correct.your input is allways welcome." (didn't need re-tired to tell me I was right, I knew my old cavalier was a cable and speed sensor, but for sure 95 Honda isn't like this.)
Deefer "So hopefully someone who has a manual will look at this post"
Re-tired "A manual ? well why didnt you say you wanted a manual."
Manual I never asked for a manual, why the heck would I need a manual for this Honda??????
Way2old "you asked if the poster had a manual, retired gave a website that had information that may help the poster" The poster not me, did you look at the website Way2old? He sent the link at "UNDERSTANDING AND TROUBLESHOOTING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS" and directed his reply to me not rakmo22. I already know how to trouble shoot automotive electrical systems already. OH BY THE WAY, IF YOU BOTHER TO LOOK AT THIS WEBSITE, look at the Instrument Cluster section for 1988-91 Civic Wagon and CRX, 91 has a speedometer cable!!!!!!!!!! So I was lose to predicting that rakmo22 had a speedometer cable, All I wanted was rakmo22 to confirm he doesn't have a speedometer cable with speed sensor or to confirm a ground fault by using a electrical diagram.
If re-tired wanted post something useful for rakmo22, he should have posted a link on the electrical diagrams or instrument clusters, however the electrical diagram on this website don't show much.
So does every one understand why I thought re-tired wasn't joking around, to me it seemed as though he was trying to piss me off.
Now that I've spelled it out for the laymen here, here's the link that I was talking about:

"Manual I never asked for a manual, why the heck would I need a manual for this Honda??????"
Well, I thought I was done. But the statement you made as to why would you need a manual for a Honda has me coming back. If you don't need a manual to fix the cars that you work on, I bow to the great God of Deefer. Otherwise, come down to earth and join the rest of us mortals and see if we can fix cars. Did you bother to look at the links on the site retired posted? There are links to all the electrical componets that the original poster may have needed. Retired has not directed anything towards anyone. He hit the reply button and it was posted. You can hit reply on the first post in the thread and it goes to the bottom of thread. So, if you are gonna jump someone for posting bad links or links that are not helpful, look at your link first and read the entire page before you condemn the site.. You missed part of it. Good luck fixing cars and still hope to see you around.
BEING WAY2OLD IS WHY I NEED HELP FROM YOUNGER MINDS.
I thought that I was done with this also W2old. What do you not understand about "why the heck would I need a manual?" t's not my car as I stated before, so why direct the link to me? Way2old, re-tired did direct "manual why didn't you say so" to me, didn't you read my previous post where I said to re-tired" I hope someone had a manual for this Honda" IE: I hope that someone had a manual and re-tired responded.
Instead of saying "manual, why didn't you so"...."rakmo22 here's something that can help you fix the problem" I guess I'm the only person who understands the English language. However I do understand how re-tired's comment could be taken the wrong way!!!!
Thanks for calling me a god way2old LMFAO!!!!!!!!
I don't think there is any misunderstanding at all, I know exactly what re-tired intended, joke or no joke. By the way I'm not upset, I was looking for re-tired to admit that he directed this link to me in a very sarcastic fashion!!!!!!, THAT"S IT. It's all in black and white. I stand by what I'm saying and I'll argue the point until the sun dies and the earth is no longer. I hope this is the very last time making any kind of comment to this subject, it's kind of pointless, at this point, I have work to do!!!!!!
I commend all of you for sticking up for re-tired, good job !!!!!!!
I've locked this thread and separated it from the original so that the person who posted the original question has a chance of getting it answered.
I'm really glad to see yet another experienced mechanic throw in some ideas - certianly all of you (Deefer, re-tired, whay-2-old, Harvester, Shadetree, Crank-it, and many others) are FAR more experienced than I am and yet you put up with (and correct) my sometimes inaccurate suggestions. I guess I just have thick skin.
That's the key to working in any forum like this one - not taking anything personally. Different approches and opinons aren't personal affronts, even if they are 180 degrees opposite of what one person just suggested. And to date we've only come across 1 or 2 people who were REALLY mean spirited, and it turned out that they weren't really mechanics with professional experience. It didn't take too much convincing to get them to see they weren't going to have any fun here, and they left.
I have a strong feeling everyone involved in this tussle IS an experienced professional mechanic and has/had something useful to add to the conversation. I'm hoping by-gones will be by-gones and everyone will continue to chip in with help for the folks who come here looking for answers.
