Re: 1990 accord no spark
hi ampage8-theirs some things to check before you start throwing parts at it...no spark could be timing belt ..igniter...coil...check to see if the dist is turning under the cap..timing belt still attached...if belt is ok then we can proceed to the coil/dist which 90%is the culprit on older hondas....check that out and let us know...crank.it

Re: 1990 accord no spark
Just a few tests to narrow down your problem...
battery voltage, check for a short between the ignition wire and the coil.
some models will have an in-line radio noise condenser,if the condenser
shorts out , power supply will be interrupted and no spark,

igniter:
Turn the ignition off, remove the distributor cap, rotor,
and leak cover(watch for the spring)Disconnect the black/yellow ,
yellow/green, and blue wires from the igniter.Turn the ignition on
grab a voltmeter, check for voltage to ground from the black / yellow wire.
if voltage is not present, check for open in wire. if voltage is present,
check the yellow /green wire between ECU and igniter unit.
Check blue wire between tachometer and igniter if if you have continuity, replace
igniter unit.

Ignition coil
remove primary terminals a and b on ignition coil.Resistance should
be .6to.8 ohms.
Check secondary resistance between a terminal and output terminal
(coil tower) resistance should be between 13,000 to 19,800, if not in specks
replace coil.

Re: 1990 accord no spark
I also had an alarm installed about a year ago, it has a kill switch to keep the car from starting if you dont have the key fob. Any advice on how to disable the kill mode would be great, when i crank it the noise sound similar to when the alrm is activated and i crank it.
