The MC has an 8 and is RWD isn't it?

The amount of $$$ these guys put into their cars is amazing. 7 to 10 grand for a supercharger. A grand on tires every year. ANd that's not the ones who do serious racing either.

I picked up my 2003 Vette from a dealer through Ebay and haven't done much except change out all the fluids. It has a number of scratches (body and rims) but I figure that just gives me license to drive it wherever and whenever I feel like it instead of letting it be a garage queen. Needs new rear brakes though - that's this weekend's project.

Or maybe I need to tackle the death wobble in the Dodge Truck. Scares the bejeebers out of me on the highway....

It is FWD 5.3 V8. 2007 Wifes car. Will drive it about 2,ooo miles this year. Makes for good trade ins though. Can't afford the big toys. Saving that for retired. He has all the bucks.

Ah - didn't realize it was FWD. That's a lot of power for FWD. I had read about the Grand Prix V8 and how they put larger tires on the front than the back.

There's a brite yellow Monte around here that looks pretty good, but I've never been in one (current generation that is).

It isn't possible to change the timing or a cam to let you run the airboat on street gas? Actually, I guess at $4/gal that's not much worse than street gas these days anyway....

Yes the timing is adjustable. It has dual magneto's , each firing 6 plugs. They are timed separately and then to each other . Dont want to back off any .Need all they got to swing a 6ft carbon fiber prop at tip speeds that break the sound barrier .The problem aint the timing as much as its the compression , 12-1 When i was a kid , yes W2O , even i was young once , we raced stick boats down the street gutters.

What did they make the props out of before carbon fiber? Wood, steel, aluminum? I can imagine something with a 6 foot diameter would be a bear to get up to speed if it was made out of steel...

Looked like a real good time. I would have been like a kid in a candy store. The pics were great. Looks like the next dream project will have to be the 5.0 on the lifted chassis. 8) How cool is that!? 8) I will have to get some pics up of the new custom ride I am working on.

The 5.0 on the 4X4 was actually an Explorer under there. They said it wasn't too hard to line up all the mechanicals.

A convertible you can take muddin'!

What kind of modifications did you have in mind? Just blacking out the windows, or something wilder like working in a sliding side door?

On the S-10 I made the fiberglass topper and cab one unit pretty much. Has a seal to join the two piecs together. Bucket seats, purple and gold velvet dash and head liner covering, custom paint on sides and hood, wing from mustang mounted on topper, roll pan bumper. Open the back gate and it looks like you're looking through an old panel van. Still has a ways to go. Still has 4 cyl 5 spd in it. Taking the lowering blocks out and giving it a slight rake this weekend.

The Yukon is already lifted, but I think adding another 6 inches and bigger tires would be better.

I miss cars with a good rake on 'em. These days everything is slammed to the ground, but I always liked it better with a set of air shocks in the back so you could lift it up for some good oversized tires out back. It just says "muscle" to me.

Never cared much for a low sittin car, but they sure are popular. Especially them vettes. I noticed they are making a come back after a couple of bad years that were kinda embarassing to the vette name. I believe mid or late 80s maybe early 90s? I'm a stang guy and even they had some VERY bad years.(Mustang II) But I guess somewhere along the line everyone makes some kinda compromise.

Is the seal between the cab and topper a flexible seal, or is it straight fiberglass? I'd assume it's flexible since the bed is separate from the cab and can move on its own.

The Vette came back in 1997 with the C5 (generation 5) model. That's when it stopped being a slab-sided poly-flex-cr*p nosed thing, and returned to its roots. That generation lasted until the end of 2004 when they introduced the current model design (which I don't like as much as the C5's).

I've had Mustangs and a number of different GM's before, but never a Corvette, so when I found a 2003 under $25 I figured I'd give it a try. I really do love it. Power's a big rush, but I can get that with anything if I put enough inches or a supercharger under the hood.

What's great though is how well it sticks to the road while still giving a nice highway ride. Back road twisties at speeds that would spin out even Miatas, and I still keep all 4 tires planted the whole way through. And, the owners group is a bit more mature than owners groups for most other performance cars, which makes getting together for events a bit more fun.
