Crank-it, it sounds like low refrigerant, especially if the outlet air temperature is above ambient temperature. If you have a gauge set, hook it up and see what the pressures are. Alternately, feel the discharge/high pressure hose at the compressor- it should be hotter than the surrounding engine parts, which indicates refrigerant in the system, but there may not be enough to condense properly, so the hot refrigerant, as gas, goes to the evaporator- and you get heat. If the suction/return side to the compressor is cold, not just cool, you have something else going on- maybe air doors aren't changing properly with the AC controls.
