Vacuum Wipers not working
Having trouble getting 71'chevelle wipers to work.
Was working off & on, seemed to be sparking at
the motor. Changed out the motor - didn't work
at all. Changed out the switch, no help there.
Suggestions?
thanks

Might want to start with making sure ground is good. Not real positive if this year had breaker in fuse box for wipers or not, you might check to be sure. Other than that, trace lead to check for current loss.

Double checked the ground - ok there.
I switched out the motor and I have
some good news and some bad news.
The motor works great, but......
I can't stop it from running. So I
changed out the switch - no help.
I removed the switch completely
and it still runs???

I haven't had a chance to check
that autozone website yet, but
do you think there may be a
relay switch with this wiper
setup that may not be working
quite right?

Thanks way2old for that Autozone website.
Thats a beautiful thing there and everybody
auta check it out and bookmark it - lots of
useful info there. Sometimes it's hard to
find useful info anymore.
Back to my issue, what I learned from the
wiring diagram is that these wipers do not
have a resister or relay. So, I need to go
back and triple check my ground and make
sure the right wires are in the right place
just like driver540 said, and the Autozone
wiring diagram gives me the wire colors
for the hookup.
thanks for the help

You could have a bad parking switch . Its part of the wiper motor assy. When you turn off wiper switch it allows power to continue motor for remainder of wipe cycle . When arms go to park position it then stops all power

Thanks re-tired, sure does sound
like that could be the problem.
Do you know if the parking switch
can be replaced or does the whole
unit need to be swapped out?
