fuel injector fuse keeps blowing 99 escort
i have a 1999 ford escort. i changed out my alternator and now my injector fuse keeps blowing out. i am able to drive about 4 blocks before this happens. can the alternator have anything to do with this or is it coincidental ?

Injector fuse
1. Allways look at the last thing you worked on and within a three foot radius.

2. I do not think your problem has anything to do with the Alternator.

3. You probably either, stepped on, pushed on or scrpped the wires going to the injectors causing a slight short. The wiring could have been worn through and you might have pushed the wiring harness so it now grounds out when the engine vibrates while running or when you go over a bump. Twist the harness upside down and look on the bottom side for wear. Also look at any wires you might have moved in the alternator area.

In some cases yes the alternator can. Honda for an example. Some alternators have diodes that are tied in with other functions of the car. On this particular application though I am unsure of.

If it makes you feel at ease, then remove the alternator and take it to have it tested. Or, find the wiring diagram for this exact model to see if it does.

solved problem with fuse blowing-the fuse was in the fuse box near the battery- it was a 30 amp fuse marked injector, but it also fed other things.it turns out this fuse is fed right from the regulator. the alternator had an internal short going right to the housing. replaced with another rebuilt- problem gone! thank you to who replied. this site seems like a great source of info for d.i.yers.
